excel short list

Not sure what you mean by the "short list" but if it is the files most
recently looked at on the "file" menu, You can adjust the number that you see
in the list by going to toolsoptionsgeneral tab and either remove the check
mark from "Recently used file list" or change the number in the "entries" box.
