Why won't the charts update?

I am working on some charts on excel, and I'm having problems with the
formulas automatically updating, as well as the charts attached to them. I
have a list of names and a number next to them. I have 2 totals at the end
of the list "people who returned their paperwork" and "people who have not
returned their paperwork". One formula adds up the total number of people
who have returned, and the other one subtracts that number from the total
number of people. next to that I have a pie chart with percentages of people
who have and have not turned in their paperwork. when I first created this
table and chart, anytime I would add a 1 or remove a 1 next to someone's
name, the formula would automatically update the numbers in the totals, and
the chart would automatically update the percentages as well. Now for some
reason NONE of my worksheets want to work properly. I have about 9
worksheets like this. anytime I add or remove a number from any of my lists,
nothing updates, and I cannot figure out why. would anyone have any advice??

Hi,

Sounds like you are in Manual recalc mode: Choose Tools, Options,
Calculation and turn on Automatic.
