You'll need to give an example if you expect a useful reply.

Why is the header length constrained? I have plenty of room l
When I am in excel and type in my header, as I go to move out of the header boxes and back to my spreadsheet, I get the message that my header exceeds 255 characters and that I must shorten it. There is plenty of room in the header box, but I find that unless I reduce the number of characters (words), that I can not move out of the header section. I don't recall this issue with 2003. I can't seem to find a fix. I am not using in special characters or fonts. AFC "Fred Smith" wrote: You'll need to give an example if you expect a useful reply. Regards, Fred. I'm presuming you have made a count of characters, and white spaces?

You can do this quickly by copy and pasting into Word 07, highlight the slab of stuff and click on the status bar word count, it will show characters and white spaces. willy "AFC" wrote: When I am in excel and type in my header, as I go to move out of the header boxes and back to my spreadsheet, I get the message that my header exceeds 255 characters and that I must shorten it. xl2003 has the same "feature".
It, too, is limited to 255 characters--including formatting characters!
