Hi Merlin68,

worksheet in one column numbers in text format and if I want to work
with numbers (add, substract, etc.) I need it to convert to number format.

After changing the format, you need to convince Excel you meant what you
said <grin:

- select an out-of-the-way empty cell, hit copy.
- select all your cells with numbers-to-be
- hit edit, paste-special and select the "Add" operation.

Are you sure the numbers do not contain any leading and/or trailing characters?

Another thing to try is to select the "numbers", then hit Data, Text-to-columns
and click finish.

Excel must be forced to see the data as Numeric.

One way is to format all to Number or General then copy an empty cell.

Select the data copy then, in place, Paste SpecialAddOKEsc.

Or select the data and DataText to ColumnsNextNextColumn Data
FormatGeneralFinish.

Now format to Number

Every week, our payroll clerks have been going through the sheets by hand and
hitting "F2" <Enter through at least 200 rows of data. This should save us
quite a bit of time! Thank you!
