For a Data Validation drop-down, just make sure the first cell in the
validation list is blank.

I went to INSERT/NAME/DEFINE and changed Refersto: to include a blank line
plus the cells with the list I do want.
Then I tried typing the word BLANK - changed the type to white so it
wouldn't show, that didn't work either.

It might be there, but not easily recognizable. Try putting the blank as the
second item in the list, not the first.

What happens?
