Excel - Auto opens files
When starting excel, the program now opens or attempts to open every file in
the directory. What causes this & how can I correct it? |
Hi
goto 'Tools - Options - General' and see what directory is defined for 'at startup open all files in...' -- Regards Frank Kabel Frankfurt, Germany 173abn wrote: When starting excel, the program now opens or attempts to open every file in the directory. What causes this & how can I correct it? |
Can you get Excel to complete opening or does it just crash when it runs out
of resources? If it will open................ Excel will try to open any files it finds in either the XLSTART folder or "Alternate startup file location" or "at startup, open files in". This could be the source of your problem. I would check the ToolsOptionsGeneral and delete any path in "Alternate startup file location". I would move any files from the Office\XLSTART folder that aren't Personal.xls, Book.xlt or Sheet.xlt. If Excel will not open and crashes, post back....you will need a Registry modification.
