Multiple and changable codes/information in one cel
I'm trying to create a formula wich allowes me to use abbreviations for
company names and their credit number. Something like: If I put "st" in a cell, the next cell will contain the full name of the company and their number. but, when I want to type "bn" in the same cel (deleting the "st" ofcourse) the next cell will contain the full name and number of that company. And so on for like fifthy different company names. Is there any way to do this? Yours, Roy Nederend the Netherlands |

VLOOKUP formula is one method.
Visit Debra Dalgleish's site for info on VLOOKUP function to pull data based on value, in your case, abreviations. Note the downloadable sample workbooks. http://www.contextures.on.ca/xlFunctions02.html Also see Debra's site for creating Data Validation dropdown menus for choosing from a list. http://www.contextures.on.ca/xlDataVal01.html Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Mon, 29 Dec 2008 01:20:01 -0800, RoyN wrote: I'm trying to create a formula wich allowes me to use abbreviations for company names and their credit number.
