Excel "list" and paste link problem
I've created a simple "list" database in Excel (phone list information with
approximately 160 rows/records). My intention is to "paste link" phone numbers from this master database to other worksheets and Word documents, the idea being that when a phone number changes I update it once in my master database and it automatically updates all documents where I have paste linked the cell. The problem is that if I add a new entry to my "list" database it displaces all subsequent records downward so associated documents are no longer linked to the correct cell (i.e. the record that was on line 52 of the list is now line 53, but the paste link in all the documents is still line 52). How do I solve this problem? Thanks in advance. Happy holidays. |
Excel "list" and paste link problem
Instead of just a simple link, perhaps use VLOOKUP (see XL help file)? That
would provide a more stable reference point. -- Best Regards, Luke M *Remember to click "yes" if this post helped you!* "ATSFSS2008" wrote: I've created a simple "list" database in Excel (phone list information with approximately 160 rows/records).
