Blank cell

i have a formula in a cell =F42-F44, it should be a $ value that shows up,
but nothing is showing up, it's just blank, not even a zero.

Select the cell and from the Edit menu use Clear All
Now re-enter the formula
Come back if this does not work, tell us the values in F42 and F44
best wishes

Could it be formatting?

Check to see if the cell is using conditional formatting.

Check to see if there's a custom number format that hides 0's. (try using
General).

Could it just have the same font color as fill color?

Maybe you have 0's hidden:
Tools|Options|View tab|Check Zero Values.
