Keyboard problem

I apologise for posting this here but I don't know where to post it, and
there are lots of knowledgeable people out there. I have a problem with my
keyboard. When I want quotation marks nothing happens with one stroke. I have
to hit the key twice and then delete one. This happen with and without the
Shift key. Has anyone any ideas,

You do not have a keyoard problem. It is a feature of Excel.

If you enter a single quote in a cell followed by text or two single quotes
in a cell, the first single quote does not appear in the cell, only in the
formula bar.

The first single quote is a prefix character. It tells Excel that the
following data is Text (regardless of the cell's format).

That first single quote is not really part of the text string.
