Footer - Automatic Date Update

Hi,

I have a user who works in excel almost everyday and she puts the dte at the
bottom of her excel pages. Question: Is there a way to have the header infor
update when you she goes into the file instead of her going into to the
header and changeing. Also, is there a way to push the new header date to the
othersheets inthe excel file?

Office 2003

Thanks for any help with this,
Matt

Answer is yes to both questions.

First, duplicate headers/footers can be assigned to all sheets at once.
Select the first sheet in the workbook, scroll over to the last sheet, hold
down [Shift] and select the last sheet in it. All sheets will become
"grouped". Then you can go to View | Header/Footer and choose to set up a
custom Footer. There is a group of buttons that allow you to insert fields
such as path to the file, filename, DATE, Time, page #, total # of pages,
etc. Click in the section of the footer (left, center or right) where she
wants the date and click the date button. The current date will now show up
in the footer of all sheets. Any other changes made to headers/footers at
this time will also be made to all sheets.

Close the Header/Footer dialog and (this is kind of important), click just
one sheet to ungroup them. Because if you don't ungroup them, then changes
made seemingly to the visible sheet will be applied to all of the sheets in
the group! Sometimes this is a handy feature, but when you're not expecting
it, it can really bring gloom to the day.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks for your prompt response. I think this will do everything we need it
to!
