Default Drawing a circle on a protected sheet

Is there a way to draw a circle on a protected sheet without unprotecting
it? I use Excel 2000. If not, can this be accomplished in a newer Excel
version.

PS. I once read a "newsgroup etiquette" posting here. Is that still
available?
Thanks to all who offer their expert help in this newsgroup! I browse it
often and have found so many useful posting!

I protected one of my workbooks in Excel 2003 and I could use the Ellipse
tool to draw a circle.

There's an option on the protection dialog that allows you to edit objects.

In xl2k, I think it's just a checkbox on that dialog box.

In xl2002+, it's near the bottom of the "allow users of this worksheet to"
options.

Be aware that if you allow editing of objects, it affects all objects--comments,
pictures, buttons, and shapes.

And were you thinking of Chip Pearson's hints for new posters?
