"Combining sheets" - again from the beginning
Hi,
I am afraid I didn't explain my problem clearly enough. Please let me describe it once again. I have two sheets. Records in both sheets have identifier (in the first column) which is unique. In Sheet 1 there are all records (=all identifiers) whereas in Sheet 2 there are only some of them. All identifiers which are in Sheet 2 are always also in Sheet 1. The below is just an example where Sheet 1 contains only 5 records and Sheet 2 contains only 3 records. In the example Sheet 1 contains records (rows) with identifiers X1,X2,X3,X4,X5 (in column K0) and data in columns K1,K2,K3,K4. In the example Sheet 2 contains records (rows) with identifiers X2,X4,X5 (in column K0) and data in columns K5,K6,K7. K0,K1,K2,K3,K4,K5,K6,K7 are names of the columns. I want to have a Sheet 3 (or updated Sheet 1) containing records (rows) with identifiers X1,X2,X3,X4,X5 (=all records) (in column K0) and (all) columns K1,K2,K3,K4,K5,K6,K7 where data in columns K1,K2,K3,K4 are from Sheet1 and data in columns K5,K6,K7 are from Sheet 2. It seems to be a kind of combining two sheets where the first sheet contains all records and the second sheet contains only some of them. I think this is a good example: Sheet 1 contains data for all employees like family name, given name, date of birth, address etc. The family name is the identifier. The Sheet 2 contains only data for some of the employees connected with their membership in any association like date of admission, position, etc. Of course the Sheet 2 must also contain family name of each personin the sheet which is the identifier. Not all of employees were admitted to the association. I need to have all data in one sheet. Please help me. It is urgent. Regards |
