Excel reporting and database
Hi,
I do many reports in Excel with large volume of data. Current im using SQL server personal edition to store the data, and make pivot in excel based on the sql server data. My system OS is XP Professional. But transfering large voulme of data from SQL server to Excel is time consuming and i feel the whole system speed brought down. Can any one suggest what could be the best database i could use for a better data anyalysis or how i could speed up the process. Database contains many tables and Views Rgds Rajesh |
Excel reporting and database
hi.
had the same problem seveal years ago. i create a "companion" db in access and linked the tables from the sql server to the companion db. then used ms query to tap the data i needed. worked out real good. wrote all my queries in access and just downloaded the queries via ms query. you might look into that. access and xl work real good togeather. i had to coordinate all the linking with IT...passwords..... but they were real accommodating. a suggestion. regards FSt1 "Rajesh" wrote: Hi, I do many reports in Excel with large volume of data.
