Default Opens as Read Only

Read only problem. Created workbook has been saved on a hard drive, floppy
drive and cd.dvd rw drive.
File can be opened worked on and saved from hard drive and floppy drive.
When the file is opened from the cd/dvdrw drive it always opens as a read
only file.
Protection is all off and the read only box is not checked.

Help please....................

Hi,

I'm not sure of this but I think you will have to change the filename and
delete the old version each time or

saved the file to the desktop with a new name. filenamedate. Then opened the
CD and moved the file from the desktop to the CD. Next it asked something
about is this the file to be written to the CD and click yes. It will then
copy the file to the CD. You have to close the file you are trying to copy
before it will complete the save

If this helps, please click the Yes button

Cheers,
Shane Devenshire

Lots of software that writes to the CD/DVD disk will write the file as
ReadOnly. You could open file explorer and look at the attributes for that file
(on the CD/DVD) to verify.

I expect that whatever you're using is doing that.

Shane thanks for taking a shot but, no joy there.
Used all the suggestions you gave me however still get the same results.
I check the attributes each time before I transfer the file to ensure that
there are no restritions. (No boxes checked)
When I execute the move (no matter from where) the file is a read only when
it reaches the CD.

As far as the operating system is concerned, Optical drives ARE
Read-Only. You will need to copy it back to the hard drive and remove
the read-only (if you operating system doesn't do it automatically on
transfer)
