Partial Hidden Text in a cell

I received a MS Excell spreadsheet with lots of information on each cell.
If I mouse over or click on the cell, I see (for example) 4 lines of text.
However, when i double click on the cell, it opens up to display 10 lines of
text.
No matter how i drag the cell size , the 6 lines of text are always
missing(hidden)

I would like to know what kind of validation or formatting has been done to
the cell to hide those line of text. Thanks

I realised that the cell seems to be fixed to display text of a certain
length. Where can I go in excel to disable this?

You can't.

You may be able to add alt-enters (to force new lines within the cell) every
80-100 characters. Then you'll see more characters.
