Excel won't open when it should.
This strange problem has suddenly appeared. When I click on an excel file
(either .xls or .xlsx) in my windows directory or download an excel file from an email attachment, or click on it in the START--RECENT ITEMS list, Excel 2007 now refuses to open; I get an error window saying that "windows cannot find the file.... Make sure you typed the name correctly". The only way to get to file open is first to open Excel, create a blank spreadsheet and then open the file through the Excel menu. This is turning into a real drag, as you can appreciate. Can you provide a fix? RonLev |

Hi PhillyRon,
What happens is that Recent items list takes the file from where you open it, let's say if I open the file from an email will be referred to the temporaty file where you open it, then if you delete or move the email, windows will not be able to find it, the same happens if you move the file from un directory to another, windows will look the file in the first one and of course will not find it giving you that error messages "PhillyRon" wrote: This strange problem has suddenly appeared. Eduardo,
That's true in the special case where I move or rename the file and the START--RECENT ITEMS LIST still carries the old name/path, but my Excel is stuck when I try to click on any excel file, no matter where or what it is.
