open downloaded .csv file

I downloaded a .csv file. I went to downloads to click on it to open it and
got "Windows can't find this file. Make sure you ?spelled it right? and retry.

I oftern get "Windows cant find/open ...." when clicking on the file name.
Sometimes I can recover it from a backup and open it??????????

Any help appreciated

open downloaded .csv file

1. Try
Start|Run|"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\excel.exe" /unregserver
Start|Run|"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\excel.exe" /regserver
Reboot

2. If the above does not work
Start|Run|appwiz.cpl
Select MS Office entry
Click on change
Choose Repair
Reboot

open downloaded .csv file

Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on
the file in windows explorer:

Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

--- or ---

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets some of the windows registry to
excel's factory defaults.
