I have an Array of 4 columns A1:D1000.
First column consists of formulas which either result to a string or "". How to insert a Vlookup() formula to checkout the Array and reflect the value in corresponding 4th column where the Column A reflects the very first piece of String? In other words, a corrected version of a formula like: =Vlookup(<"",A1:D1000,4,0) -- Best Regards, FARAZ A. QURESHI |

Hi,
You have two different problems, your formula suggests what you want is: =IF(F9<"",VLOOKUP(F9,A1:D1000,4,0),"") But you discussion suggest a different issue: you want to look at the first character of the entries in column A only? =VLOOKUP(F9,A1:D1000,4,0) In that case you could enter the following in F9, the cell whose value I want to look up, A* This would find the first entry that has an A in the first position. Alternatively you could enter A in F9 and change the VLOOKUP to read =VLOOKUP(F9&"*",A1:D1000,4,0) If you are trying to trap the N/A error resulting from no match being found then =IF(ISNA(=VLOOKUP(F9&"*",A1:D1000,4,0)),"",=VLOOKU P(F9&"*",A1:D1000,4,0)) -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "FARAZ QURESHI" wrote: I have an Array of 4 columns A1:D1000.
