encryption options in Excel 2007

I had a series of Word 2003 documents and Excel 2003 spreadsheets
encrypted. In 2003 in the security section of the options menu it allowed
me to select a higher algorithm. Today I upgraded to Office 2007. I can
still open the encrypted files but every time I do a save it's prompting me
to save it with a different security system. There seems to be no options
available with this.
1. Why can't I turn that #*(()$#! message off?
2. If I do select this new option which isn't explained will I still be able
to open the files with Excel & Word 2003??

There is a registry entry that may help re the prompt.

Create the following Dword registry key using Regedit.exe from Start-Run
and set its value to 1.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\C ommon\Security\NoPromptForRC4Encryption
