Stop dates from showing as numbers - when formated as dates

I have an on-going spread sheet for PO's each mo a new sheet is created. In
October the columns that should be dates shows in the toolbar as a date - but
on the sheet it shows as a number (10/01/2008 shows as 39722). The cells are
formatted as dates.

Thank You

Reformat the cells. Select a cell above October that shows dates correctly
and use the Format Painter (looks like a paintbrush) to format the October
cells

By the way: it is in "Formula Bar" that you are seeing 10/1/2008
best wishes
