MS did an update during the night and did not save the data on an open
spreadsheet. I need to recover the data.

You didn't save the data? You left the PC set to automatically download,
install updates and reboot? Not good.

What is not good is your reply. Apparently you can only comment what should
not be done, which anyone could do, instead of saying how to fix the issue.
