Dear Stefi,
I have a list of names range A1:A7. Someone gave me a formula
=IF($A$1:$A$7=$A$10,ROW($A$1:$A$7)). What does it mean $A$1:$A$7=$A$10.

Think its a good idea to start off the learning curve in Excel on the right
footing, eg learn the functionalities of Autofilter & Pivot table ahead of
complex array formulas. See my response to your other posting, where I've
provided you with the easy lead-in details on Autofilter & Pivot table.

IF Function

The formula seems to be an array formula checking if name in A10 appears in
any of A1:A7. If yes it returns the row No, if not, it returns FALSE.
To try it select range B1:B7, enter formula and confirm it with
Ctrl+Shift+Enter!

Stefi
