Default Excel 2007 Changes date stamp on Save As

When I open a file that I previously created in Excel, then I choose Save As
to make a copy of the file the date stamp on the original and new file
reflect the current date. Is there a new service release that prevents this
from happening?

This should not happen if you do NOT save the original file...

Try this
Open a file
Do SAVE AS to a new name
Check the time stamp on the original file
Does it change?

does your original file have links to other files? When you open the file, it
will auto-save whether you update or not. Haven't seen any releases that
would cause this not to occur...

The original file does not contain links to other files. Even when I
immediately perform a "Save As" right after opening the file it changes the
date stamp on the original & new version.
