how do you look up a name in a worksheet

Hi there, I am currently working with alot of data in a excel spreadsheet,
roughly about 22,000 names and I want to know how you would look up a
particular name if for example you are at row 100 and you can't remember what
the row that name was in. So basically I want to know how to look up specific
names within an excel spreadsheet e.g mr joe bloggs in row 24 etc etc

Many thanks

You could select the column that contains the names, press Ctrl + F and use
find to locate a specific name.

Quickest way to do this is just to turn on the AutoFilter. Then, just click
the drop-down in that column to select the name. If you're looking to have
Excel return a row number value, that would be a little different.

Are you sure that auto-filter will work with 22000 names?
I thought that it would only cope with the first 1000?
