how do I get round 'file type blocked by registry policy setting'

In Excel (Office 2003 pro version) I am attempting to save a simple worksheet
as Quattro Pro/Dos .wq1 format, but I get the message that the file can't be
saved because of "your registry policy setting". How to I fix "my" registry
policy setting so that I can save the file?

I'm guessing you'll have to get with your IT folks to assist.

See:

You receive an error message when you try to open a file type that was blocked
by your registry policy settings in Excel 2007 or in Excel 2003
