Excel 2007 Shortcut do not work

Recently upgraded to Excel 2007 via Office Enterprise 2007. Converted one
spreadsheet to the .xlsm format and created a desktop shortcut to replace the
old one.

The spreadsheet is password protected.
When I double-click the shortcut, Excel will open but the spreadsheet does
not. If I then try to open from within Excel, the password prompt comes up
and then access to the spreadsheet.

How do I get the shortcut to work properly?

This seems to be a common problem (but it doesn't happen all the time).

Right now there is no fix--just workarounds like you found--or opening excel,
then using ctrl-o to open the file.

Office button, Excel Options, Advanced, General section
uncheck "Ignore other apps..."

Thanks, but that option is already unchecked.

Jim Rech posted this workaround (windows registry modification)...

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Security
- modify/add a DWord key named: ExcelBypassEncryptedMacroScan
set its value to 1 (one)

Does this registry edit work? (has it worked for anyone?) I'm hesitant to
try it w/o confirmation.

I have a similar problem as described above, except my spreadsheet is not
password protected. Also, when either left for a long time (30-40 seconds or
more) the sheet does eventually open. This is a tiny spreadsheet, not
something that takes a long time to load. Also, if I click minimize in excel
right after excel loads, the program minimizes, and immediately pops back up
with my file loaded. It would seem to me that something is slightly bent.

I'm running XP pro, SP3, and recently installed Office 2007 Pro (previously
had 2003, uninstalled it and did a fresh install of 2007) (and yes, Office is
fully updated with SP2, and anything else from Microsoft Updates)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
