Excel 2007 Changes cell formating after file is saved

I have found in Excel 2007 in some cases when I save and then reopen a file,
the formating of a cell has changed.

It always changes from General (no formatting) to a Date format.

I find i happens most often when the files get large (1meg), and have many
tabs (8+).

It did not happen before in Excel 2003.

I am stumped

Has anyone found a solution or cause? I have searched the internet but have
not encountered any more info than what is contained in the previous post.

No luck here...I responded to a similar post regarding this issue (see post
"Default Cell Format Changed?" in Excel General Questions). To play it safe I
reverted back to Office 2003 where I never encountered any issues. As
described by Jeff Page, I think the file size and multiple worksheets is
somehow affecting the default cell format.

If you decide to change the cell format back to "General", Excel 2007 will
simply revert the formated cells back to "Date" again. So don't waste your
time! Not finding a simple, quick, and permanent fix is frustrating.

Check out
http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...2fsettings.xml

I still don't know how this setting got changed, but I suspect that one of
my users is making this change without realizing the extent of it's effect.
