Desprately need help ASAP.

I am trying to to set up a spreadsheet that allows for tracking of assigned,
requested, and received. Using the letters A, R, Q. How do I make the one
cell count all the assigned cells and requested cells and so. Do I need to
change the value of the letters and if so how???

Use the following formulas,changing the range of A1:A8 to match the range in
your worksheet:

1. =COUNTIF(A1:A8,"=A")
2. =COUNTIF(A1:A8,"=R")
3. =COUNTIF(A1:A8,"=Q")

If you need to include multiple non-contiguous ranges you can enter something
along the following lines:

=COUNTIF(A1:A10:D1:D10:G1:G10,"=A")
=COUNTIF(A1:A10:D1:D10:G1:G10,"=Q")
=COUNTIF(A1:A10:D1:D10:G1:G10,"=R")
