unable to open file

Hi group

Win XP SP2
Ms Office 2003

Sorry if crossed post but I am unable to find solution to my MS Excel
problem as follows:

For an unknown reason I am unable to open a saved regularly used workbook
with several spreadsheets on it. I have saved earlier forms of this workbook
so I am nearly able to painstakingly update that saved one.

I renamed the file and tried to open........no joy.

I do also backup regularly, but in error I saved from my memory stick to the
PC, instead of PC to stick!!...meaning the loss of my recent additions to
that workbook (174kb).
I have tried another "OpenOffice..." software program and tried to open it
without any joy...just the message.."This file is not recognizable format".

To add to this "picture", I tried to save the original folder containg "that
file" to my HP Opaq, but was unable to due to the size of file....anything
to do with my problem??

Forget how, but I managed to open it, and it was full of "tiny squares".

I have scanned all files for viruses and all clear.

TIA

Terry

Hi Terry,

If your file is too big in size it may be corrupted. There are lot of
reasons for this and it is very difficult to decide which one of that can
cause such a situation.

Try to open the back up file and save it as normal workbook.
