Excel 2000 Validation with colors

Hiya,

A question I'm busy with a form.
In the form, a date list, I want to make notes on different dates for example
F for Full and E for Empty.
Now when I go to a specific date I want to enter a letter
for example F and I want to that the color of the cell then changes
color, from blank to Red (pattern style)
but I want this to happen automaticly (the highlight part)
Now I can activate this with Conditinal Formating (Max 3)
but I was wondering is there an different way which doesn' ask to much
brains :O)

Cheers,

Mr.WJCA

You could use an event macro, but conditional formatting hurts the brain a lot
less!
