Some data in Excel 2007 temporarily disappears. Why?

I have a 12 page workbook for personal accounts. From time-to-time a column
of data, or a section from a column, disappears as I'm working on it. If I
save and reopen, the data reappears, but can disappear again. Most annoying.
Is this a fault of Excel 2007, or something to do with the processor? Any
help on this would be gratefully received.
