how to display item numbers that may contain letters
Using Excel 2003. My item column are refrence numbers to items I am
tracking. Most are straight numbers but some also cntain a leter. (Ex. 204,205,205L, 206K etc.) How do I format the column so that when sorted 205L shows up right after 205? Currently it will sort the straight numbers fine but the ones with letter qualifiers will show up at the bottom of the column. |

If your reference numbers are stored as text, Excel should prompt you to
specify how you want them sorted. If you select "Sort numbers and numbers stored as text separately" your numbers should sort they way you want. "gosgood" wrote: Using Excel 2003.
