Say i have an excel file, and i edit it and save it. Now in the properties of
this file it now shows the last date modified. Is there any way to revert to
that file. Can i undo the most recent save?????? Any way possible. Can i view
what has been modified. PLEASE REPLY ASAP

No, in general you can't go back.

It is always wise, when saving, to use the option (under Save As/ General
Options) to always create a backup. I guess you will do so in future?

You may be able to get the previous version back if you have a backup or
archive routine, or on a network drive running Windows XP under properties
there should be a "Previous versions" tab.

Yes, it is saved on a network drive, & Running windows XP. But i cannot find
the"previous versions tab".

The most i have been able to find out it which user last modified it, when
etc. i just need to prove what they have changed. STILL NEED
HELP......................... ANYONE PLEASE

Ok now lets say i have an excel file saved. Now i right-click that file and
copy, and save it as another file in a new location. can i find out which
file it originated from.

Or say i hit save-as. and i save it in a new location. can i find the
original document?????

If you copy the file, the properties like author etc. will be the same as
the original but there will be no property giving you the original filename

If you save as under a new name, the original will not be overwritten and
will still be on your computer in the same place it was before.

In the original file, open properties, and then in the comments section
enter the information as to path and file name. Now you may read that
info in any copy you make of the file or if you move the file you may
read it to see the path it was originally in. Of course you could put
the same information in a footer, header or a cell in the spreadsheet
too. It is just more likely to not get changed in the properties.
