Validation Table - Entering Value not in a table

I have a Validation table on my timesheets that my employees record a
pre-entered activity from a validation table to decribe what they did during
a certain time frame. From time to time, there will be special exceptions
that the employee needs to enter a value that is not in the validation table.
Is there a way to have a cell in the validation table that will accept data
entry that is not present in the table?

Thanks!

There is an option (Excel 2007) under data validation which allows you to
issue a warning when an item outside the list is entered.
