Paste Special is extremely slow
 

I have a spreadsheet with over 650000 rows. If I do a "Paste Special..." on
a column to convert from Formulas to Values it takes over 20 minutes! Anyone
know how can I speed it up? I'm surprised because it was so quick (< 5 secs)
to copy and paste the Formula over all the rows and see the results in the
column.

Excel 2007 obviously. I can't think of a reason the PV should be so slow
given the speed of the copy/paste. I just tried a PV of formulas in the
range A1:A650000 and it took just a split second. Little else in the sheet
of course. I guess I'd have to have an example sheet that manifests this to
investigate further.
