Pete UK previous solution can't get it to work

Hi,

What am i doing wrong?
I tried to use the formula =start:end!A1 to sum all A1 in sheets encompassed
by "start" and "end" sheets. Seemed a nifty solution in the following thread
(http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...b-1ceff3a2b8ca)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I get a #REF! error message.

Help!

Try

=SUM(Start:end!A1)

You must ensure that the summary sheet (the one with the formula in)
is not included between the sheets start and end - it must be outside
the "sandwich". Also, ensure that your sheet names do not have spaces
at the ends on the sheet tab.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Mike - have just checked back and realised I missed out the
SUM part in my rush to post before lunch.
