paste option disabled after clicking copy
I copied a cell with information and then went to another cell and when I
went to right click to paste it, the paste option was greyed out so is the paste icon in the toolbar. The Clipboard is cleared out. |

Did you do anything between copy and paste? i.e.: press the ESC key, type
something into another cell, etc. When you copy, are the 'blinking ants' still circling your cell when you try to paste? -- John C "mbargfre" wrote: I copied a cell with information and then went to another cell and when I went to right click to paste it, the paste option was greyed out so is the paste icon in the toolbar. You could have an event macro (_selectionchange???) that runs when you change
selections. And one of the bad things about most macros that do anything is that they clear the clipboard. If you disable macros when you open the workbook, does your copy|paste work ok? mbargfre wrote: I copied a cell with information and then went to another cell and when I went to right click to paste it, the paste option was greyed out so is the paste icon in the toolbar. Nothing else was pressed and yes the blinking is still circling the cell.

Unfortunately this is happening on someone else's pc. She said no macros are
enabled. Would reinstalling Excel (we are using 2002) clear this problem? "Dave Peterson" wrote: You could have an event macro (_selectionchange???) that runs when you change selections. I wouldn't think so.
No offense meant toward the person having the trouble, but did she actually try disabling macros when she opened that workbook? You could ask her to set the security setting to high (or medium and say no at the prompt). In xl2003, that setting can be found: tools|macro|security|security level Then open the workbook. But I'm confused about the marquee (dancing ants) around the copied cell and the disabled items in the menus. I don't have a guess why/how that could occur. Are you positive that both those things are true? mbargfre wrote: Unfortunately this is happening on someone else's pc. She said no macros are enabled.
