Reduce File Size
Hi There,
I am trying to reduce the size of my file to around the 2MB mark. I have followed all the advice i could find on the subject on this site, but still can't get it below 4.5MB. I have tried: 1.CTRL+SHIFT+END and removing empty areas 2. Pasting all data as values, so there isn't a single formula in the file 3. Saving the file as .html. Although this did help with what was showing on screen, it removed the group formatting which i need to keep in the file. I have also minimised as much of the formatting as i can to still be able to publish it. Is there anything i am missing which might be able to reduce this file to the magical emailable file size? Thanks in advance |

1. Embedded graphics can take lots of storage, remove them
2. Pivot tables can take lots of storage, remove them or copy/pastespecial values the tables onto themselves -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200796 "shakey1181" wrote: Hi There, I am trying to reduce the size of my file to around the 2MB mark. Hi Guys, thanks for both responses.
I don't have any pivots or graphics in the file, just a large amount of data. It is split between 5 tabs each with about 1200 rows and 40 odd columns. appreciate this is a large file, but really need to reduce it somehow (without zipping it) Jake "Nayab" wrote: On Jul 30, 1:40 pm, shakey1181 wrote: Hi There, I am trying to reduce the size of my file to around the 2MB mark. I hope u don't believe somebody can come up with some black magic tricks here. If u need to reduce the size, zip it. If you need to send the data to somebody without zip, fax it man! or may be upload it some common location |

Removing means "deleting" not just clearing contents.
After deleting empty rows and columns on each sheet you must Save before the used range is reset. In some older versions you had to save/close then re-open to see changes. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Wed, 30 Jul 2008 01:40:02 -0700, shakey1181 wrote: 1.CTRL+SHIFT+END and removing empty areas |
