tab key use in a created template
I created a worksheet to function as a standard template to be updated by a
group. The tab key works for only the top half of the protected document. I have 184 lines and only goes through less than 80 of them. I cannot/do not know how fix it. Does excel have a limit on how may fields can be input like that??? I am perplexed! -- AudraBacon |

We don't know which method you are using to Tab through the cells.
If using sheet protection and unlocked cells you can go forever. If using a named range, you are stuck with 255 characters in the Refers to: dialog box. I am using sheet protection and unlocked cells. I thought I should be able to
go to "infinity" with it, but it stops and I cannot figure out why. I have deleted rows and put the criteria for answer back again, but it does not fix the problem. Does Excel have a tab order properties somewhere that I have not found that I can edit maybe? One thing it does allow me to do is arrow down into my next section of input, but hat is just irritating because it messes up the flow for entry. My spreadsheet is a faux form that will allow the user to do data entry for some fields, and pick choices from dropdown lists for consistent answers. Oh, Does merging cells cause a problem, that is where my error starts, where I need a bigger field for the usere to enter descriptiven note/explanations. This is the first template I have set up. Thanks for your help. -- AudraBacon "Gord Dibben" wrote: We don't know which method you are using to Tab through the cells. If using sheet protection and unlocked cells you can go forever. Yes, the merged cells will give you grief.................In this case and
so many other cases to be exact. Your tabbing will stop at first merged cell and just keep going back and forth between it and previous cell. Should have asked you about that in the beginning. Get rid of the merged cells..........maybe add a Comment to cells for users to add their descriptions and notes?
