Creating form with "tick boxes"

i want to create a form, in which you can select certain criteria by clicking
a cell, and then in that cell a tick (or dot, or anythng!) appears
highlighting your choice without you having to actually type anything in the
cell.
i currently use Excel 2003

Creating form with "tick boxes"

How about an actual check box. What you are describing would require some
custom macro code. This is a pile easier...

Bring up the Forms Toolbar (Tools - Customize - Toolbars - Forms Toolbar)
There is a check box icon on the bar. Select it. Now on your worksheet you
can draw a checbox by dragging your cursor.
Right click the check box to Edit the text to a meaningful caption.
Right click the check box and select Format Control. On the Control Tab add
a cell reference to linked cell.
When the check box is checked or unchecked the linked cell will show true or
false...
