Cells won't automatically update --- urgent!
Hello,
We are having a problem with one of our excel templates at work, and we are on a tight deadline. The workbook is quite large....probably 50 to 80 sheets or so. Most of these sheets have been duplicated off of other sheets. The issue is that we have a bunch of valuation multiples linked to an assumptions page, and when we change the number on the assumptions page, the multiples do not update through out the template. We have tried a number of things. We have verified that the cells are set to automatic update in the options menu. We have also tried to go into a worksheet select all and hit F9, which you would think would update the cells. I have also, click on the specific that i want to update and hit F9, and nothing happens. The only way I can get the cell to update is if i put my cursor inside the cell, and hit enter. There is no way that I can go through every individual cell and update them manually like this. Plus we would not be too confident in the integrity of our template. I would consider myself a fairly advance user of excel, and I am quite familiar with using macros in visual basic. If anyone has an easy solution or a set of code that I can run that will update the template for me that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!! Ryan |

Do you have the status bar visible? When you press F9, does it show on the
Status bar Calculating 0%... etc? I only ask because I have had large workbooks in the past, with far less number of sheets (and apparently data), that I had to keep on manual calculations (because just changing 1 number would sometimes take forever to keep 'current' calculations), so after changing it to manual, I would watch the status bar, and ensure it got to Calculation 100% -- John C "Ryan" wrote: Hello, We are having a problem with one of our excel templates at work, and we are on a tight deadline. Actually, when I click F9 nothing happens. There is no calculating message on
the bottom of the screen. I also tried to select all, and then i went into options and clicked on the button that says Calc Now (F9). I've also tried to save the document, close it, and then re-open it. It still doesn't update. The only way I can get the cell to update it to manually click inside the cell, and then hit the enter key. "John C" wrote: Do you have the status bar visible? Interesting....I just did a "Save as" and now everything updates...why would
that be happening? Is there a way to do this without having to do a "Save As" every time? "Ryan" wrote: Actually, when I click F9 nothing happens.
