I have a conditional format that I use in a column. The first
condition is a formula, =isempty(a5) and the format is set to "No
Format". This works fine most of the time but occassionly in this
column is a row that has background color explicitly set and the
conditional format, even though it says "No Format" the background
color is removed. Is there anyway to overcome this behavior?

If you have a CF with No Format Set, that is effectively no CF. Apart from
the fact that IsEmpty is not a valid function, =A5="" works, I cannot
reproduce the problem. Have you other conditions?

Sorry, I should have said ISBLANK rather than ISEMPTY.

This morning when I was looking at this I saw some different results.
I'll have to characterize this further afte I get home from work (busy
day today, maybe tomoorrow.)
