If a worksheet is protected by a password is there any way of being able to
edit the data if the password is irretrievable?

If you have allowed users to select locked cells then they can copy the data to
another sheet but they won't be able to edit the original sheet data.

Are you asking how to retrieve a forgotten password?

See John McGimsey's site.
