when pressing forward slash key numbers appear below headings
I appear to have set the forward slash ket (/) so that it does not appear in
the selected cell but initiates numbers to items on the toolbars. If I do a sequence of keys with the forward slash in the sequence then it types OK |

The default for forward slash in excel is a quick access to your menu items.
Check your Tools--Options, Transition tab if you want that to be a different character. Or you can leave it blank and it will type as normal. Or, if you are entering text data into a cell that starts with a /, you can enter a single quote ' first, and then the slash. Hope this helps. -- John C "Folkcamper" wrote: I appear to have set the forward slash ket (/) so that it does not appear in the selected cell but initiates numbers to items on the toolbars. You can prefix your entry with an apostrophe: '/whatever goes here
Or you can turn off a Transition setting. In xl2003 menus: tools|Options|transition tab| remove the / character from "Microsoft Office Excel menu key:" box Folkcamper wrote: I appear to have set the forward slash ket (/) so that it does not appear in the selected cell but initiates numbers to items on the toolbars.
