Using the contents of a cell as a file name for an INDEX formula
I want to run an INDEX lookup but base the file name it searches for on the
contents of a cell in that same workbook. Is this possible? How? |
Using the contents of a cell as a file name for an INDEX formula
Let's imagine it was another sheet that you wanted to look in (in the
same workbook), and the sheet's name was held in a cell - you would use INDIRECT to do this. However, INDIRECT will not work with closed files, so if you wanted to have a filename and sheetname in a cell then you would have to arrange that the second file was open at the same time. Hope this helps.
