Text from another workbook

Hi all,

I need to use a formula to pick up text from another workbook.

I did use the conventional = but this just seems to return '#value' in my
desired cell.

I trust I need to do something slightly more complicated but am at a loss as
to what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

The formula should look like this:

=[Book1]Sheet1!$A$1

Open both workbooks in the same instance of excel.
Go to the "sending" cell
Edit|Copy
Go to the "receiving" cell
Edit|Paste special|click Paste link

When you close the sending cell's workbook, excel will adjust the formula to
include the path.
