In xl2003, you get one fill color per cell.

You can format each character as a different font color, though.

You may be able to cheat, though. Maybe you could plop a couple of rectangles
or other shapes over the cell and give each shape a different fill color????

..... or, perhaps, use a font which has characters that are shapes rather
than letters (I'm thinking Wingdings maybe).
