Is there a way to open a excel file created on a computer running windows XP
on a computer running Vista? I get a message saying unknown format or
something to that effect. Thank you in advance.

It's got nothing to do with the operating system. Both XP and Vista can run
similar programs.

There is a format difference between Excel 2007 and previous versions.
Native Excel 2007 files have an .xlsx extension. If this is your problem,
you can:

1. Save the file as .xls in 2007
2. Download the Office compatibility pack from he

Do you have Excel installed on the computer with Vista?

The operating system has nothing to do with it.
