Renaming a sheet

When I sometimes rename a sheet it come back .xls]Newname? What's with
the ".xls]" portion? I didn't put that there.

Thanks.

It might help us to figure out why if you showed us the code you are using
to rename the sheet.

Renaming a sheet

It's the last 4 characters of the workbook the sheet is in, and that usually
wouldn't appear unless you've linked cell via formula back to another
workbook.

I got it. It showed up because I hadn't renamed the file yet. Once I
did, I could change the names w/o .xls] showing up.
Thanks.
